EP rapporteurs urge Council to make headway with 4th railway package political pillar

Ahead of the Transport Council meeting on Friday, rapporteurs for governance and public service obligations files of the 4th railway package urge the Latvian EU Transport Council Presidency to conclude negotiations on the political pillar of the package as soon as possible.

"I have asked Commissioner Bulc to insist with the current EU Council Presidency to define a political agreement on the governance and PSO files, said David Sassoli (S&D, IT), rapporteur on the governance rules of the Fourth Railway Package, following a meeting with the Transport Commissioner on Tuesday.

"I fully support a fast approach to negotiations on the political pillar on the 4th railway package," said Wim van de Camp (EPP, NL), rapporteur for the public service obligations file.

"The Parliament has a clear mandate to negotiate the entire package and is therefore looking forward to see progress in the Council also on the political pillar," said Michael Cramer (Greens/EFA, DE), chair of the Transport and Tourism committee.
