Michael Cramer in Berlin and Europe

In 1975 Michael Cramer moved to Berlin, where he successfully completed his traineeship at the "Ernst-Abbée-Gymnasium" in music, sports and educational theory (1975-1977). From 1977-1996 he was teacher at the "Albrecht-Dürer-Gymnasium."
Michael Cramer has been mobile without a car since 1979.
In1989 for the "Alternative List" - todays "Die Grünen" ("the Greens") - he entered the Berlin House of Representatives. Until 2004 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, being the spokesperson for transport policies of today's "Fraktion Bündnis 90/Die Grünen."
From 1989 till 1990 Michael Cramer was chairman of the transport committee. Furthermore he participated in a number of different committees, such as the Committee for Culture, the Committee for Berlin-Brandenburg, the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution and the Committee of Inquiry Airport Schönefeld. Additionally he represented the Green Group (Grüne Fraktion) in the Committee of Petitions.
For seven years Michael Cramer was a member of the Committee for Federal- and European affairs.
In addition to his occupation as a delegate, he coevally apprehended several teaching assignments at the Otto-Suhr-Institut of the Freie Universität Berlin. There he taught transport and city policies. Moreover Michael Cramer acts as an author, publishing in books, magazines et cetera.
Since the 20th of July 2004 he is a Member of the European Parliament. He is part of the Greens/EPA group and as a delegate he is the greens spokesperson in the Committee of Transport Tourism (TRAN).
As initiator of the Berlin Wall Trail Michael Cramer wants to transfer this model for sustainable mobility and historical tourism onto European level. He therefore successfully realised his idea of a 9000 km cycling trail along the former European "Iron Curtain" that split east and west. In 2005 it was accepted by the European Parliament with great majority.
